Universal Studios Vacation

My wife Laura and I just returned from a little vacation to Universal Studios, Hollywood. I must say that we had a fantastic time, five stars *****. We were like two kids in a candy store. The rides, the shows, the entertainment it was just incredible.
Here is a current rundown of what you will see at Universal Studios, Hollywood.
Studio Tour
Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride
Shrek 4-D
Jurassic Park – The Ride
Waterworld
Terminator 2, 3-D
Fear Factor Live
The Universal Experience
The Simpsons Ride
The Adventures of Curious George
House of Horrors
Special Effects Stages
Universal’s Animal Actors
Backdraft
The Blues Brothers
Plus lots of shops to have fun and get lost in.
It can all be done in one day by scheduling your day around show times. So you will want to get there right when they open, grab a schedule, sit down and plan your day around the scheduled events. You will want to make your way down to the lower lot early in the day because that will be less busy right when they open. Also plan the studio tour first, that gets really busy as well.
You may have heard that Universal had a fire on the back lot. One disappointing thing for me was the clock tower in “Back to the Future” was a casualty in the fire. Universal Studios is in the clean up phase right now. They will be rebuilding what was lost as if the fire had never happened. So the good news is the clock tower will be back. The fire only damaged a small area of the park and it should not hinder you from going. I personally thought it was interesting to see. I would also like to return when everything gets rebuilt just to see the before and after photos that we took. The Studio Tour shows you where the fire was.
Here is a really important tip. Universal Studios Front of the Line Access Pass. What that means is you get the VIP treatment. And man do they roll out the red carpet. Laura and I felt like we were movie stars. We never had to wait in line for any ride or for any seating for any of the shows. They have a special line, it’s called Gate A. Basically you get sent right to the front of the line and right onto the ride, it was incredible. Also there is special reserved seating for all the shows. Again Laura and I felt like we were A list Celebrities. So the tip is definitely spend the money for the Front of the Line pass. Also don’t wait until you get to the park because they only offer a limited amount of these passes. Do it online and reserve your ticket.
Another tip: Stay hydrated. Los Angeles was in the hundreds and man, was it hot. Drink plenty of water. Just a heads up — water is $3.00 a bottle. Get more tips on staying hydrated on Google.
My two favorite things at Universal Studios was House of Horrors and Jurassic Park – The Ride. Take a look at this picture. Look at my wife -WOW! I think it’s one of my favorite pictures.
