Travel Deals, Be Flexible and Act Fast.

With the price of gas and oil prices on the rise, airlines will be looking for ways to pass these increased costs on to the traveler.  The average airfare costs increased more than 14% in the past year and even more for certain areas according to the Labor Statistics.  There will even be more pain when airlines start cutting flights later this year.  Airlines have already started hitting the travel for additional fees such as charging for checked bags, charging for peanuts, one airlines charging for a bottle of water.  Pretty soon there will be a dollar dispenser to get into the bathroom.

But even with all this, the Deals are out there!!!  You just need to look hard, stay flexible and act fast.  With the high fuel costs and slowing economy, travel companies have to be aggressive to keep you traveling.  Whether its hotels, airlines or cruise ships, seats and rooms need to be filled!  Remember this, yesterdays vacancies can not be sold tomorrow.

So let’s take a look at what you need to do:

Act Fast:

Airlines have announced that they are reducing fleets later this year, starting in September, so travelers will be competing for fewer seats. So if you see a good price, a price that you can afford, don’t think, Act.  If you click away from that price and go back to it later chances are that the deal will have gone to someone else.

Consider Different Destinations:

If you have to get away and prices are an issue, then re-think your destination. Airfares to New York are up about 23% this summer over last summer, versus a 7% rise on airfares to Seattle.  Airfares to Bahamas are up 14% while those to US Virgin Islands are down almost 3%.  So consider different travel options.

Plan Ahead:

Common sense airlines will hammer you financially for last minute travel.  Some industry watchers see prices rising hirer, others aren’t sure.  Still, planning ahead is often a better strategy then waiting till last minute. Most of us know where we will be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas and yet some still wait.  If you know right now book now, www.vacationdeals247.com.

Time Your Search:

Start looking for deals in the middle of the week.  That’s when airlines start posting their web specials.  Weekends are the worst.

Time Your Stay:

Timing is everything.  Mid week is the better for traveling, chances are you would have fewer leisure travelers.  If you destination if frequented by business travelers, check different days to find the best pricing.

Date Flexibility:

Being able to be flexible on travel dates is a plus.  A good way to find the cheapest fares is to plug in a date, then compare that price with the fare for travel two weeks later and again two weeks later than that.  Avoid Sunday travel and if possible go in September and October versus July or August.  Most kids are out of school and families are taking vacations.  Airlines know this and price their fares accordingly.

Consider Cruises:

Cruising is the way to go.  Talk about the value versus dollar.  But the cruise lines are feeling the pinch of rising fuel costs too.  There are a lot of good deals out there.  Also keep in mind European Cruises.  They can help offset the brutal effects of the dollar to euro ratio.  There are plenty of deals to find out there.

You can search Google for additional travel tips.
