Running a Home Based Business

Set Boundaries:

Setting clear boundaries and carving out time for your work is the key to being a well balanced home based entrepreneur.  Running a home based business is easy.  The hard part is devoting at a minimum 30 minutes every day consistently for up to 6 months to get your business to develop momentum.  See people put in 30 minutes here and hour there don’t see any results and they get frustrated and quit. If you take a look at any business you need to invest 2-5 YEARS for that business to turn a profit!  You should treat your home based business no different.

Structure is Essential:

Yes, not having to wear a suit everyday, be in the office by 8:00 am and be chained to your desk until 5 or 6 pm is an awesome feeling and possibly the reason you started your home based business in the first place.  My office is about 15 feet away from my bed and it’s sure nice going to work in my pajamas.  But structuring your day in a way that works for you is really important, especially with all the potential home based business distractions like spouses, children, house work, and personal phone calls.

Establishing structure will not only help you be disciplined and get your work done, it will also help the people around you know when you’re available–and when you’re not. If you’re running a business from home, communicate which hours are for work, and which areas of your home are work zones.

Do you love to Travel?

Have you ever thought about starting a home based business? Does the idea of making a commission on travel sound appealing? The Travel industry is a $7 Trillion a year industry and $1.3 Trillion in the US alone. Travel is growing 23% faster than the US economy. Travel is expected to grow to $14 Trillion by the end of the decade. 56 MILLION Dollars every minute is spent online purchasing travel. Google “travel” and see.

Travel Business Plus offers a home Internet based online travel business opportunity that allows you to earn commissions on travel.

My question to you is, why not get your share? If you would like the opportunity to start your very own online home based or away from home based travel business and earn commission on travel such as flights, hotels, cars, cruises, concerts, shows, theater, musicals and sporting event tickets, then now is the time. Airline Luggage Fees

airport-luggage-14.jpg

Airline Luggage Fees

Are Airlines getting carried away with luggage fees?

Laura and I recently took a vacation and we were shocked when we went to check in our luggage.   Laura and I flew US Air.  Their policy for checked luggage as of July 1st is this: $15 for your first checked bag, $25 for the second checked bag and $100 for bag 3-9.  Bags weighing 51-70 lbs is $50 and bags weighing 71-99 lbs is $100.  It was embarrassing, people where actually at the gate shifting their personal belongings from one bag to another to even out weight.  It shouldn’t make any difference that one bag is 45 lbs and the other bag is 55 lbs.  It’s just another way for these airlines to get additional dollars out of the traveler and in my opinion it’s ridiculous.

Does all this make your head spin?  Well I wanted to scream!  Our checked luggage bill was $105.00.

Here is a Tip:

When comparing airfare you also need to keep in mind what your checked luggage bill will be.  Because when booking your flight online, you may think you are saving money, but with your luggage it could cost you more.  There are some airlines that DO NOT charge for your first and second bag.  One airline I will mention is Southwest Airlines.  Southwest Airlines, I applaud you!  With Southwest you are allowed to carry on one personal item, one bag and they do not charge you for your first two pieces of luggage.  I will fly Southwest Airlines any time I can even if the rate is slightly higher, because I know that I will not have to deal with the issue of an additional charge when checking in luggage.

You can search Google for additional luggage tips.

Well It’s Off to Work!

header_32.jpg

Well It’s off to Work!

Laura and I, “unfortunately”, have to go to work.  We’re off on a Caribbean cruise, so I will not be posting any new information until July 15th. We will be taking advantage of the Success Principle:

Freedom of Time:

Nobody likes being a slave to the office, but few people do anything about it.  Re-assess your life goals and decide if it’s time to be your own boss or professionally capitalize on something you have a passion for.

Laura and I have a passion for travel.  We also love to take cruises, so we are capitalizing on that.  Thanks to this business we were able to start our very own online home based travel business.  Take a look at our travel booking website: www.vacationdeals247.com.  We earn a commission every time someone books anything on that site such as flights, hotels, cars, cruises, concerts, shows, theater, musicals and sporting event tickets plus much more. Oh and by the way, while we are in the Caribbean, people out there will be going to our site and booking travel and we will be making money while on vacation.  So technically we are not taking a vacation, we are taking a Paycation.  And the best part of it, it’s a 100% tax write off.  We have to go research hot travel spots so when our customers ask us about it, we have first hand experience and we will be able to tell them all about it.

On our cruise we will be visiting places like Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; Belize; and Roatan Island, Honduras.  Laura and I will have plenty of stories and pictures to share with you upon our return.  Please don’t take any of this as bragging. I am sharing this with you because you can have and do the same thing, capitalizing on a passion!

Family Travel Flying Tips

header_75.jpg

Family Travel – Flying – Travel Tips

  • Reserve a nonstop flight. If that’s not possible, go direct. Pay the extra money if you can afford it. Waking a sleeping baby/child should be avoided if possible.

  • Take a night flight. Hopefully, the children will sleep for most of the flight.

  • Buy a seat for your baby. It’s worth the extra price. Children under the age of two, or weighing less than 40 pounds, should be securely fastened in child restraint seats when flying. Children have been seriously injured by turbulence.

  • Make sure your car seat has an FAA approved label. Then, confirm with the airline that you can use that particular safety seat on board the aircraft.

  • Select your seats ahead of time if possible. If it is just you and a child, book an aisle seat for easy access to bathrooms and walking areas.

  • Beware of bulkhead seats. While they do allow more leg room, there is not storage under the seats. This means more visits to the overhead bin. Also, immobile armrests prevent a tired child from leaning on mom or dad.

  • If you are going to be a single traveler with twins or more than one baby, check with the airlines ahead of time. Many airlines do not permit one adult to travel with two infants.

  • Bring backpacks. These are good storage for toys, water bottles and snacks that your kids help to select. The children can carry them too.

  • Always bring an extra outfit for your baby.

  • Get to the gate early. Take advantage of pre-boarding for passengers traveling with children.

  • Try to avoid any salty or dry snacks before the flight. These snacks lead to consuming liquids. Children who consume a lot of liquids tend to need to use the restrooms just as the “seat belt” sign is displayed.

  • Give your infant or toddler a bottle or sippie cup during takeoff and landing. This releases ear pressure. Older children can use gum or hard candy.

  • If your child becomes sick with a cold before your flight, contact the pediatrician before you leave. They can recommend an over the counter medicine that may help with the ear pressure of takeoff and landings.

  • Always bring more snacks, water, milk and formula than you think you need.

  • Allow your child to bring a blanket or toy they are attached to as carry-on luggage.

  • Always remain calm and keep a sense of humor for the children’s sake.

Universal Studios Vacation

800px-universal_studios_fountain.jpg

My wife Laura and I just returned from a little vacation to Universal Studios, Hollywood.  I must say that we had a fantastic time, five stars *****.  We were like two kids in a candy store.  The rides, the shows, the entertainment it was just incredible.

Here is a current rundown of what you will see at Universal Studios, Hollywood.

Studio Tour

Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride

Shrek 4-D

Jurassic Park – The Ride

Waterworld

Terminator 2, 3-D

Fear Factor Live

The Universal Experience

The Simpsons Ride

The Adventures of Curious George

House of Horrors

Special Effects Stages

Universal’s Animal Actors

Backdraft

The Blues Brothers

Plus lots of shops to have fun and get lost in.

It can all be done in one day by scheduling your day around show times.  So you will want to get there right when they open, grab a schedule, sit down and plan your day around the scheduled events.  You will want to make your way down to the lower lot early in the day because that will be less busy right when they open.  Also plan the studio tour first, that gets really busy as well.

You may have heard that Universal had a fire on the back lot.  One disappointing thing for me was the clock tower in “Back to the Future” was a casualty in the fire.  Universal Studios is in the clean up phase right now.  They will be rebuilding what was lost as if the fire had never happened.  So the good news is the clock tower will be back.  The fire only damaged a small area of the park and it should not hinder you from going.  I personally thought it was interesting to see.  I would also like to return when everything gets rebuilt just to see the before and after photos that we took.  The Studio Tour shows you where the fire was.

front-of-the-line-pass.jpgHere is a really important tip.  Universal Studios Front of the Line Access Pass.   What that means is you get the VIP treatment.  And man do they roll out the red carpet.  Laura and I felt like we were movie stars.  We never had to wait in line for any ride or for any seating for any of the shows.  They have a special line, it’s called Gate A.  Basically you get sent right to the front of the line and right onto the ride, it was incredible.  Also there is special reserved seating for all the shows.  Again Laura and I felt like we were A list Celebrities.  So the tip is definitely spend the money for the Front of the Line pass.  Also don’t wait until you get to the park because they only offer a limited amount of these passes. Do it online and reserve your ticket.

Another tip:  Stay hydrated.  Los Angeles was in the hundreds and man, was it hot.  Drink plenty of water.  Just a heads up —  water is $3.00 a bottle. Get more tips on staying hydrated on Google.

My two favorite things at Universal Studios was House of Horrors and Jurassic Park – The Ride.   Take a look at this picture.  Look at my wife -WOW! I think it’s one of my favorite pictures.

Our whole trip cost us about $700.  The best part about it is we get to write it all off on our taxes because it was a business trip.  If our clients ask us about Universal Studios, we have to be knowledgeable enough to tell them all about it.  We love the travel business.

If you would like the opportunity to work from home and start your very own home based business.  Then an online home based travel business is the way to go.  You can earn commission on Flights, Cars, Hotels, Cruises and vacation packages.  That’s over 60 Airlines, 27 Cruise Lines, over 55,000 Hotels and Resorts, Car Rentals Tours and All-Inclusives.  You will also get paid on Sports and Concert events, Theme Park tickets, Las Vegas Shows, Event Tickets, Golf Tee times and even sending Flowers.

We’ll give you the tool’s, you just tell us you’re ready.

Travel Tip - Key West Florida

On one of our cruises, we took a tour around Key West on a jet ski. This is a tour you don’t want to miss!
Your  guide takes you around the entire island, explaining the history of Key West and showing special points of interest. You also have the chance to “open the throttle” and give your jetski a workout.

Normally, we always suggest booking excursions through the cruise line. However, this one is right as you exit the ship in Key West. It was the only jet ski rental place we found, and prices were fair.

We took our tour in the later part of the afternoon, allowing us a first glimpse of the famed Key West sunset.
